The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) stated they are investigating the incidents.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Earlier, the IDF initiated targeted operations on al-Bureij in central Gaza and areas in the east of Deir al-Balah on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The airstrikes were aimed at military compounds, Hamas weapons depots, and underground infrastructure belonging to the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
“The attacks resulted in the elimination of several Hamas terrorists,” the IDF reported.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Israeli soldiers had previously been stationed in al-Bureij at the beginning of the year but withdrew from the area later on. However, Hamas remains active in the densely populated area, according to the IDF.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Residents of the neighboring refugee camps of al-Bureij and al-Maghazi reported continuous attacks in the area on Wednesday. They stated that the attacks had been ongoing throughout the night, forcing thousands of people to flee to the nearby Nuseirat refugee camp.<\/p>\n
