Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has opened up about his struggles with making friends, revealing that he finds it hard to connect with people who hold grudges. During an appearance on the \u2018Deep Dive\u2019 podcast hosted by comedian Teju Babyface, Iyke explained that his rapid personal growth often creates a disconnect with others.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe don\u2019t hang around emotions. We don\u2019t have time for it. That\u2019s why I can\u2019t be friends with everybody,\u201d Iyke stated. He emphasized the need for friends who are not fixated on his past actions, saying, \u201cI need somebody that won\u2019t be hung up on my last act. I\u2019m too transitional for it. My propensity for growth is at an alacrity that you can\u2019t keep up with.\u201d<\/p>\n
Iyke shared that his lifestyle and evolving nature make it challenging to maintain typical friendships. He said, \u201cWho I was yesterday is different from who I am today. So it\u2019s not everybody that can keep up with that. I need somebody that I won\u2019t call for 10 weeks and he is not in his feelings.\u201d He added, \u201cThere\u2019s a time I didn\u2019t call him for 4 months and he didn\u2019t call me either. We don\u2019t have to. But when we call, it\u2019s value.\u201d<\/p>\n
Expressing his preference for a different kind of friendship, Iyke noted, \u201cI don\u2019t want a friend that I am in your life every day. It\u2019s never going to work because I will never show up for your kid\u2019s birthday. You find me wanting at your anniversary. When you have certain issues I might not be the one to reach. But I tell you, when you call me and I sense that it\u2019s not even a function of what you tell me, I sense that you need me, I\u2019m going to move every mountain.
