A Lagos resident, Oloshogbo Idris, who embarked on a holy pilgrimage to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the annual Hajj pilgrimage in 2024, reportedly passed away on Tuesday. According to information received by our correspondent on Wednesday, the pilgrim breathed his last while eating, shortly after returning from the circumambulation of the Holy Kaaba in Makkah.<\/p>\n
Mr. Saheed Onipede, the secretary of the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, confirmed the incident in a statement signed by the Assistant Director of the ministry’s Public Affairs Unit on Wednesday. He stated that the deceased expired while eating shortly after completing the Tawaf, minutes after the first evening prayer.<\/p>\n
Although the exact cause of his death had not been medically confirmed at the time of reporting, Onipede suggested that it might be linked to the strain endured during the Tawaf.<\/p>\n
While conveying the condolences of the state government to the immediate family and friends of the deceased, the secretary prayed for Allah’s forgiveness for his shortcomings and for him to be granted Aljanat Fridaos and the rewards of the Hajj, given his intention to undertake it.<\/p>\n
He urged other pilgrims to be cautious and avoid overexertion before the commencement of the actual Hajj rites yet to be fulfilled.<\/p>\n
The deceased was reportedly laid to rest in Makkah in accordance with Islamic rites and the regulations of the Saudi Arabian authorities.<\/p>\n
