Speaking at a joint session of the National Assembly on Wednesday, marking the first anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, Akpabio emphasized the anthem’s role in fostering a sense of brotherhood despite ethnic differences.<\/p>\n

“This development sends a sense of brotherhood despite differences in tribe and tongues,” Akpabio remarked. He praised President Tinubu for his achievements over the past year and highlighted the reintroduction of the old anthem as particularly significant.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf all the significant things you have done, one of the most profound is taking us back to our genealogy. Though we belong to different tribes and may have different tongues, henceforth, we will refer to ourselves as brothers. As we move forward in various endeavors, we must hail Nigeria.\u201d<\/p>\n

Akpabio noted that Tinubu’s visit to the National Assembly was a sign of respect for the legislative body. He likened it to a “waka pass” in Nollywood, symbolizing a brief but respectful appearance. \u201cYou intend to celebrate Democracy Day on June 12, but out of honor and respect for the National Assembly, you made it a point to pass through here on your first anniversary.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cThere is no better place to commence this revolution than by going back to our roots. In the National Assembly, we are not just representatives but the elected voices of Nigerians. The voice of the National Assembly is the voice of Nigeria.\u201d<\/p>\n
