Senator Jimoh Ibrahim has announced the withdrawal of his lawsuit challenging the gubernatorial primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state. He stated that President Bola Tinubu influenced his decision to withdraw the suit, signaling a commitment to improving internal democracy within the party.<\/p>\n
Initially, Ibrahim had joined the APC and Governor Aiyedatiwa in challenging the outcome of the primary election at the Federal High Court, Abuja. However, in a statement released on Tuesday, he revealed that President Tinubu’s intervention prompted him to withdraw the suit.<\/p>\n
“The suit is now withdrawn due to the intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR,” Ibrahim stated. “The President called me, had a meeting with me, and assured me that he will, as the leader of the party, improve on internal democracy within our party, and I will need to withdraw the case to enable him to chart a way forward.”<\/p>\n
Ibrahim emphasized that his decision to withdraw the lawsuit was not personal but aimed at enhancing internal democracy within the APC. He expressed his absolute respect for President Tinubu and thanked him for his words of wisdom and encouragement during their meeting.<\/p>\n
Acknowledging the significance of President Tinubu’s commitment to internal democracy, Ibrahim highlighted the withdrawal of the lawsuit as a gift to commemorate the first anniversary of the President’s remarkable performance in office.<\/p>\n
In addition to President Tinubu’s intervention, Governor Aiyedatiwa also visited Ibrahim’s residence to discuss the matter, further demonstrating efforts to resolve the dispute amicably.<\/p>\n
