The Federal Government has indefinitely suspended the Air Nigeria Airline project. Minister of Aviation and Aerospace, Festus Keyamo, made this announcement on Monday during the ministerial briefing to mark the first year of the Bola Tinubu administration.<\/p>\n
Keyamo clarified the decision, stating, “It remains suspended and it was never truly Air Nigeria. It was only branded as Air Nigeria. It was Ethiopian Airlines trying to fly our flag.”<\/p>\n
He questioned the rationale behind involving foreign airlines in a national project, asking, “If it is so, why not allow our local people to fly our flag? Why bring foreign airlines to fly our flag? So nobody should deceive you that it was Air Nigeria.”<\/p>\n
The Minister emphasized the importance of promoting local content and capacity within Nigeria’s aviation sector. He pointed out that the initial plan involving Ethiopian Airlines did not align with the vision of a truly national carrier operated by Nigerians for Nigerians.<\/p>\n
