Bauchi State government has announced its bid to resuscitate the famous Yankari Game Reserve to attract global tourism.<\/p>\n
Yankari Reserve is one of the largest natural wildlife habitats in Africa housing fauna and flora on about 2,244 square kilometres. It also has natural spring water which attracts tourists and visitors.<\/p>\n
Governor Bala Mohammed, who went on an unscheduled inspection visit, said the rehabilitation of the reserve is ongoing, adding that the vision is to transform it to global standards, stressing that while his administration executed several infrastructural projects in the state, there is a need to now turn attention to the tourism sector, which is what Bauchi is known for.<\/p>\n
The Bauchi state governor said the previous administration of former governor of the state, Ahmed Mu\u2019azu invested and transformed Yankari Game Reserve but regretted that nothing had been done since then, adding that as a native of Duguri, one of the communities around the reserve, it becomes more pressing for him to upgrade Yankari Game Reserve to attract tourists and improve revenue generation of the state.<\/p>\n
