The Programme Coordinator, Regulatory, Compliance, and Facilitator of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi), Mr. Zayyanu Yabo, has announced that Nigeria is set to generate over three billion dollars in investment through the CNG value chain.<\/p>\n
During a stakeholder engagement on the CNG conversion initiative in Abuja, Yabo revealed that about one million CNG vehicles are expected to be produced by 2027. Additionally, the program aims to train and empower twenty-five thousand personnel in CNG conversion.<\/p>\n
Yabo emphasized that the CNG conversion initiative is a key part of President Bola Tinubu\u2019s agenda to provide Nigerians with an alternative and cheaper transportation fuel. He highlighted that the initiative, launched by President Tinubu as a successor to the National Gas Expansion Programme (NGEP), aims to mitigate the impact of subsidy removal and leverage Nigeria\u2019s abundant natural gas resources.<\/p>\n
“Last year, His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu launched the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (P-CNG-I) to cushion the impact of subsidy removal. This initiative is techno-economically beneficial because Nigeria is naturally blessed with an abundance of natural gas deposits,” Yabo explained.<\/p>\n
Yabo also announced the establishment of several CNG conversion centers across the country. He stressed that President Tinubu’s recent directive for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to procure only natural gas-powered vehicles demonstrates the government’s commitment to the initiative.<\/p>\n
He called for the support of all stakeholders, particularly in the transport sector, to achieve the objectives of the Presidential CNG Initiative, which aims to provide an alternative energy source, ensure cleaner energy, and align with global best practices.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
