Mr. Ola Olukoyede has been appointed as the Executive Chairman of the EFCC, and Mr. Muhammad Hassan Hammajoda has been selected as the Secretary of the commission.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement signed by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President (Media &amp; Publicity, Mr. Olukoyede, a lawyer with more than twenty-two years of experience in regulatory compliance consulting, fraud management, and corporate intelligence, has been entrusted with the position of Executive Chairman of the EFCC.<\/p>\n<p>His appointment is renewable for a term of four years in the initial instance, pending confirmation by the Senate. Mr. Olukoyede boasts extensive experience in the operations of the EFCC, having previously served as Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman from 2016 to 2018 and as the Secretary to the Commission from 2018 to 2023. This background uniquely qualifies him to fulfill the statutory requirements for serving as the Chairman of the EFCC.<\/p>\n<p>The appointment of Mr. Olukoyede follows the resignation of the suspended Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa. President Bola Tinubu believes that Mr. Olukoyede&#8217;s vast expertise and experience will play a crucial role in leading the EFCC&#8217;s mission in combatting financial and economic crimes.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, President Tinubu has designated Mr. Muhammad Hassan Hammajoda to serve as the Secretary of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. His appointment is renewable for a term of five years in the initial instance, awaiting Senate confirmation. Mr. Hammajoda is a distinguished public administrator with a wealth of experience in public finance management. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Maiduguri and a Master&#8217;s in Business Administration from the same institution. His career journey began as a lecturer at the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, and he subsequently ventured into the banking sector, with successful tenures at the defunct Allied Bank and Standard Trust Bank.<\/p>\n<p>The statement further said President Tinubu has entrusted the new leadership of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with the critical task of justifying the confidence placed in them in the pursuit of this crucial national assignment. The appointment comes as part of a comprehensive effort to reinvigorate the fight against corruption through a reformed institutional framework within the anti-corruption sector.
