On Wednesday, a riot broke out in Byazhin, Kubwa, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, resulting in the deaths of at least three individuals, comprising two women and a young boy.<\/p>\n

The riot, which commenced on Tuesday night, stemmed from a confrontation between local scavengers, commonly referred to as Baban bola, and the community’s residents.<\/p>\n

The conflict escalated when a member of the bola group tried to steal a woman’s pot of soup on Tuesday evening. However, he was subdued and assaulted after the woman raised an alarm, alerting both neighbors and passersby.<\/p>\n

Paulina, an eyewitness who spoke to Abuja city Journal, recounted that following the scavenger’s release after enduring severe beatings, he rallied hoodlums who returned armed with weapons, including machetes.<\/p>\n

She further explained that the hoodlums launched random attacks on residents, resulting in the tragic death of a woman. Additionally, two individuals presumed to be passersby lost their lives during the riot.<\/p>\n

No one felt safe in their homes that night,” Monica emphasized. “The Baban bola group arrived armed with various weapons, wreaking havoc on buildings in retaliation for one of their own being assaulted while attempting theft of a pot of soup.”<\/p>\n

She continued, “Their violence claimed the lives of two people that night. Furthermore, in their subsequent attack on Wednesday morning, another person lost their life, bringing the total death toll to three.”<\/p>\n

Paulina concluded by stating, “Numerous individuals sustained injuries and have been rushed to the general hospital here in Kubwa for treatment.<\/p>\n

it was learnt that schools in the area were closed down on Wednesday morning as parents scampered to pick up their schoolchildren from their classrooms for safety.<\/p>\n

The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the attack, She said several suspects have been arrested in connection to the violent attack, stressing that they \u201care currently being interrogated to ascertain their complicity\u201d.<\/p>\n

The PPRO noted that normalcy has since been restored in the area.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
