Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ekiti State have apprehended 14 individuals for allegedly perpetrating job scams, preying on unsuspecting job seekers. Mr. Agboola Sunday, the state commandant of NSCDC, unveiled the suspects to the press in Ado Ekiti, revealing that they were nabbed by the Counter Terrorists Unit of the command.<\/p>\n
Among the apprehended suspects, seven were females implicated in a scheme that involved deceiving and extorting money from innocent Nigerians with promises of securing employment opportunities for them. Agboola disclosed that the suspects would lure their victims to a designated location under the guise of offering employment, only to exploit and detain them.<\/p>\n
Assuring a thorough investigation into the matter, Agboola emphasized the commitment of the NSCDC to ensuring that justice prevails and the perpetrators face the full force of the law. He cautioned the public against falling victim to such fraudulent schemes, urging individuals to utilize legitimate channels when seeking employment opportunities.<\/p>\n
Highlighting the dangers of online job offers, Agboola advised job seekers to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of prospective employers. He stressed the importance of confirming the legitimacy of companies or organizations before engaging with them to avoid falling prey to unscrupulous individuals.<\/p>\n
One victim, Ayala Favour, shared his harrowing experience, revealing that he had traveled from Ogbomoso in Oyo state to Ado-Ekiti in pursuit of employment with a company called Quest Company, after being contacted by an agent on Facebook.
