Residents of Ikole-Ekiti in the Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti urged the lawmakers representing the state on Wednesday to prioritise the welfare of their constituents.<\/p>\n
Bisi Ogunsakin, a teacher, said the constituents expected food, money and infrastructure to cushion the effects of the current economic condition in the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe current economic challenges facing Nigerians are resulting in depression, hypertension and untimely death as a result of a lack of food, money and assistance.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe urge our lawmakers to provide food, jobs and financial assistance as well as organise skills acquisition programmes to cushion the effect of the current economic challenges,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mr Ogunsakin said that the youth were looking up to them for jobs, empowerment and scholarships to help them attain their potential.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to advise our elected lawmakers in Ekiti to find lasting solutions to the challenges facing their constituencies and the residents.<\/p>\n
\u201cMany youths who are jobless need empowerment, scholarship and jobs in order to be useful to the society and this can only be possible with the help of God and our elected lawmakers.<\/p>\n
\u201cI urge them to fulfil their promises to the people at the grassroots who trusted their capabilities and voted for them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Another resident, a fashion designer, Bosede Ogunjobi, urged the lawmakers not to disappoint their supporters who voted for them.<\/p>\n
