A number of Civil Society Organisations and journalists on Thursday 9th May stormed the Force Headquarters in Abuja, demanding the release of Daniel Ojukwu, a detained journalist with the Foundation for Investigative Journalism.<\/p>\n
The protest had in participation, a legal practitioner, Deji Adeyanju; a Pro-democracy activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress in the 2023 general elections, Omoyele Sowore; amongst others.
\nThe protesters carried banners with the inscriptions, \u2018Free Daniel Ojukwu,\u2019 \u2018No to a police state,\u2019 Journalism is not a crime,\u2019 and \u2018Stop the impunity.\u2019<\/p>\n
Ojukwu was whisked away to the National Cybercrime Centre, in Abuja, on Sunday by the Intelligence Response Team of the Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun.<\/p>\n
The Journalist went missing on Wednesday, May 1, with his phone numbers turned off, leaving his whereabouts unknown to colleagues, family and friends.<\/p>\n
Despite initial efforts by the FIJ to file a missing person report at police stations in the area where Ojukwu was last seen, his location remained undisclosed.<\/p>\n
Reacting, Soyombo condemned the act saying; \u201cWe will keep doing everything we can do behind the scenes, the abduction is annoying.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
