Salisu Dahiru, the director-general of the National Council on Climate Change, says\u00a0the federal government is committed to reducing its carbon footprint.<\/p>\n
A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases that an activity, product, company or country adds to the atmosphere.<\/p>\n
Mr Dahiru said this on Tuesday in Abuja at the official Presentation and Socialisation of Nigeria\u2019s Long-term Low-emission Development Strategy (LT-LEDS).<\/p>\n
He said the government\u2019s determination to reduce Nigeria\u2019s carbon footprint can be seen in the inauguration of several initiatives, such as the Electric Buses Rollout Programme and the Carbon Market Activation Programme.<\/p>\n
He urged stakeholders to align efforts and contribute their expertise to concrete actions that would propel Nigeria towards a shared vision of a low-emission and climate-resilient.<\/p>\n
The NCCC director-general added that the journey to net-zero emissions had begun, and it was already clear that the road would be rough.<\/p>\n
According to him, Nigeria\u2019s position is balancing its socioeconomics with climate change initiatives.<\/p>\n
