Dispelling speculations of crisis, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has affirmed that there is no turmoil within the party following the governorship primaries in Edo State.<\/p>\n
Speaking in an interview on Channels Television\u2019s Politics Today, Prof. Abdulkareem Kana, the National Legal Adviser of the APC, emphasized the party’s unity and readiness for the upcoming governorship election in Edo State.<\/p>\n
Senator Monday Okpebholo emerged victorious in the primaries, garnering 12,433 votes to clinch the APC governorship ticket, despite initial opposition from other aspirants, including Dennis Idahosa and Dr. Blessing Agbomhere. Idahosa contested the result, calling for a fresh election, but the party assured that the dispute was resolved after he was named as the running mate to the Edo candidate.<\/p>\n
Kana clarified that, as of the moment, the APC has not received any legal court documents pertaining to the primaries, indicating that any reports of legal disputes remain speculative. He refuted claims of internal conflicts within the Edo APC, highlighting the party’s focus on preparing for the governorship election.<\/p>\n
He stated, \u201cThe Edo primary has come and gone, and we are preparing for the governorship election. The party in Edo State has elected a candidate who bears our flag at the moment. We almost had one or two persons who went to court. But they had pulled out and filed a notice to discontinue the cases.”<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the moment, we do not have any legal issue in court regarding the election.
