The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has issued a stern warning of imminent mass protests in response to the ongoing fuel scarcity and energy crisis plaguing the nation. Scheduled for Tuesday, May 7th, the protests are slated to take place along major roadways across various geographical zones.<\/p>\n

Identifying key routes such as the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway, Airport Road Abuja, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Onitsha-Asaba Head Bridge, and Bauchi-Jos Road, NANS aims to make a resounding statement about the severity of the situation.<\/p>\n

In a joint statement signed by NANS Senate President Akinteye Afeez and five zonal coordinators, the student body expressed deep concern over the plight faced by Nigerian students and their families due to the persistent fuel scarcity and energy challenges. Their primary objective for the protest is to demand the immediate removal of senior officials whom they hold responsible for exacerbating the crises.<\/p>\n

Specifically targeting Mr. Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), and Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power, NANS asserts that their leadership has contributed to the mismanagement of critical energy resources, plunging the nation into chaos.<\/p>\n

To ensure widespread participation and maximize impact, NANS meticulously devised a plan for protests to occur simultaneously across multiple zones of the country. Each zone will hold demonstrations at strategically chosen locations to amplify their message and demand accountability from the government.<\/p>\n

Emphasizing that the protests are a collective response to systemic failures and neglect perpetuating hardship among Nigerians, NANS stresses the urgency of removing the identified officials to address the root causes of the crises.<\/p>\n
