In response to the ongoing feud between former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged financial mismanagement, Samuel Ortom, the immediate past governor of Benue State, has weighed in.<\/p>\n
Ortom expressed concern that Yahaya Bello has been unreachable since being declared wanted by the anti-graft agency. Speaking at a thanksgiving service to mark his 63rd birthday in Makurdi, Ortom advised his counterpart to cease evading the EFCC and instead present himself for scrutiny.<\/p>\n
He stated, “Let me use this opportunity to advise my younger brother and friend, former governor Yahaya Bello, not to disgrace former governors. If you are called to come and account for your stewardship by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, go there. You do not need to hide from EFCC; you do not need to resist arrest or anything. Go there and explain.”<\/p>\n
Ortom emphasized the importance of cooperating with the EFCC, urging Bello to heed the call and address the allegations against him. Despite attempts to reach Bello, Ortom noted that his calls have gone unanswered, urging him to face the EFCC and clarify the situation.<\/p>\n
