ECOWAS disclosed in a statement on Thursday that the workshop, held from April 23 to 25, sought to foster cooperation, improve data quality, and empower the bloc to formulate informed policies on drug supply and demand across member states.<\/p>\n
Sierra Leone’s declaration of a state of emergency due to widespread Kush drug use has heightened concerns, prompting the workshop to focus on tackling the crisis in the country.<\/p>\n
The outcomes of the workshop are expected to significantly influence future actions and strengthen cooperation among member states in managing drug abuse challenges across the region.<\/p>\n
Ms. Sarr, represented by Sintiki Tarfa Ugbe, the Director of Humanitarian and Social Affairs, underscored the importance of addressing drug-related issues regionally, with particular attention to Sierra Leone’s acute challenges.<\/p>\n
Nigeria’s Health Minister, Muhammed Pate, echoed the workshop’s timely nature, emphasizing the need to enhance data analysis capabilities and express solidarity with Sierra Leone.
