Schneider Electric has announced a collaboration with Ashoka to launch a global campaign aimed at youth development, marking its 25th anniversary. The campaign, titled \u2018Youth Innovation for a Sustainable Future,\u2019 seeks to recognize and reward impactful and innovative youth projects dedicated to creating a fairer, low-carbon society.<\/p>\n

According to a statement by Schneider Electric, the application process for the initiative is open from April 22 to May 19, 2024. The company revealed that the best projects from each continent will be awarded prizes, with the top project receiving 30,000 euros, followed by 20,000 euros for the second, and 10,000 euros each for the third and fourth positions. Additionally, the last spot will receive 5,000 euros, and one project out of the 25 will be honored with a special prize of “Youth Innovation Champion,” totaling 50,000 euros during the COP29 climate summit in Bakou, Azerbaijan.<\/p>\n

The Schneider Electric Foundation, known for supporting innovative projects addressing urgent social and environmental challenges, aims to empower individuals with the energy they need for success.<\/p>\n

Devan Pillay, Cluster President, Anglophone Africa, Schneider Electric, expressed excitement about the company’s involvement in the Schneider Electric Foundation’s 25th anniversary. Pillay highlighted the Foundation’s impactful initiatives, such as the Energy Technical Training, New Skills for the Future, and Innovation programs, which encourage youth to work towards a sustainable future.<\/p>\n

Ajibola Akindele, Country President of Schneider Electric, emphasized the role of Nigerian youths in driving sustainable energy transition. Akindele noted the significant contribution of young people worldwide to tackling social and environmental challenges. In Nigeria specifically, there has been a notable increase in youth-led initiatives addressing these issues. Akindele expressed Schneider Electric’s enthusiasm for supporting Nigerian youth in leading the energy transition.<\/p>\n

The call for applications, ‘Youth Innovation for a Sustainable Future,’ in collaboration with Ashoka’s program Changemaker Companies, focuses on professional engagement and a fair transition. It aims to select 25 of the most impactful innovative youth projects across all five continents. In Nigeria, the call for applications is open from April 22 to May 19, 2024.<\/p>\n
