Scores of terrorists have been killed in airstrikes operating on eight motorcycles, and destroyed their hideouts in Damasak and Mobbar local government areas of Borno State.<\/p>\n
A statement by NAF\u2019s Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet said the successful airstrikes were carried out on Tuesday 23 April, 2024.<\/p>\n
Gabkwet said the terrorists had attempted to attack troops of Sector 4 of the MNJTF at Lada, a border town between Niger Republic and Nigeria, and subsequently fled across the border into Nigeria.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe fleeing terrorists who were on 8 motorcycles were later tracked to two locations situated at Zarri village, located about 28 km east of Damasak and Mala Alide in Mobbar LGA of Borno State,\u201d Gabkwet said.<\/p>\n
He said the terrorists were observed hibernating in the Village with their motorcycles hidden under trees.<\/p>\n
\u201cSubsequently, airstrikes from the Air Component of OPHK and Nigerien Air Force, under the watchful eye of Niger\u2019s Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft, struck the terrorists\u2019 locations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\u201cReal-time ISR footage later confirmed numerous terrorists were eliminated and several structures within the targeted areas destroyed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The statement said collaborative efforts in the theatre have led to the reduction in terrorism and other forms of cross-border crimes perpetrated by criminals crossing the borders to evade justice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
