Cosmopolitan University, Abuja, has announced plans to adopt a supercomputer cluster to process satellite data aimed at supporting agricultural practices and enhancing artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Carl Adams, made this announcement during the institution’s first matriculation ceremony, where 54 students participated.<\/p>\n
Adams highlighted that the utilization of supercomputers would facilitate the processing of satellite data, leading to the development of various applications requiring extensive data storage and processing capabilities. Recognizing the environmental impact of supercomputers, the university is designing its facilities to be environmentally friendly, incorporating innovations such as solar panels, heat exchange systems, and thermo-electric generation to achieve carbon neutrality.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, the university plans to offer summer schools to students from other institutions in Nigeria and globally, granting them access to its satellite data-cube, AI resources, and supercomputer cluster. In alignment with its principles, the institution aims to provide access to its computing resources to other universities in Nigeria, as well as to business and government organizations.<\/p>\n
Professor Adams emphasized the university’s commitment to collaboration with the Nigerian satellite industry, intending to contribute additional resources and capabilities for the benefit of the country.<\/p>\n
Addressing the matriculating students, Adams urged them to leverage the institution’s facilities and academic expertise, highlighting the vision of establishing Cosmopolitan University as the premier institution in Nigeria and globally.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Nu\u2019uman Danbatta, described Cosmopolitan University as a beacon of knowledge, emphasizing its dedication to excellence and providing students with quality education to thrive in a dynamic world.<\/p>\n
Danbatta emphasized the institution’s commitment to fostering an environment where minds can explore, question, and grow, reaffirming its dedication to shaping future leaders through education and innovation.<\/p>\n
