Justice Oyindamola Ogala of the Ikeja High Court has adjourned the Chrisland School case until May 2, to rule on the admissibility of treasury receipts related to the Agege Stadium, where a 12-year-old student reportedly died.<\/p>\n

The decision came after hearing arguments on the admissibility of evidence presented by the prosecution witness, Mr Yakubu Jubril, a social worker at the Ministry of Youth and Social Development.<\/p>\n

During cross-examination by the defence counsel, Mr Olukayode Enitan (SAN), the witness identified documents as government treasury receipts, showing payments for the use of the stadium.<\/p>\n

However, Dr Babajide Martins, the Director of Public Prosecutions, objected, arguing that the witness did not create the documents.<\/p>\n

The defence maintained that the documents were treasury receipts for Chrisland School’s use of the stadium and were crucial as the Lagos State Government collected fees for its usage.<\/p>\n

Chrisland School’s counsel contended that the evidence must be relevant, emphasizing that an officer from the Lagos State Government identified the documents.<\/p>\n

The witness also stated in court that all facilities serving children are required to report major occurrences, emphasizing the need for various authorities to be informed.<\/p>\n

The case, prosecuted by the Lagos State Government, involves charges against Chrisland School Ltd., its principal, vice principal, and others in connection with the student’s death.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
