The Tin can Island Ports (TCIP) Customs Area Commander, Dera Nnadi, announced a remarkable increase in revenue generation during the first quarter of 2024. The command generated N303.9 billion in revenue, marking a substantial 139% increase compared to the same period last year, which saw a N177 billion rise.<\/p>\n
This significant achievement was disclosed in a statement issued in Lagos on Wednesday, signed by TCIP’s Public Relations Officer, NN Okwara. The revenue collection trend demonstrated consistent growth throughout the quarter. In February 2024, the command collected N100.3 billion, representing a 141.8% increase from the N41.5 billion recorded in February 2023. Similarly, revenue for March 2024 soared to N115.1 billion, a substantial surge from the N42.8 billion reported in March 2023.<\/p>\n
Nnadi credited the impressive revenue collection to the dedication of officers to service delivery and effective teamwork. He expressed gratitude for their commitment, emphasizing their pivotal role in achieving such remarkable results.<\/p>\n
The breakdown of revenue collection for the first quarter showed that the command collected N88.4 billion in January 2024, marking a 107.9% increase from the N42.5 billion recorded in January 2023.<\/p>\n
In addition to revenue generation, the TCIP also made significant strides in anti-smuggling efforts. During the period under review, the command seized 57 packets of heroin weighing 56.390kg, valued at approximately N902.24 million on the street.
