This year&#8217;s event promises to be a pivotal platform for exploring strategies to bolster the local automotive industry and stimulate investment within the ECOWAS and African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) frameworks.<\/p>\n<p>The conference, chaired by Luqman Mamudu, former Director at the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) and CEO at Transtech, will delve into critical topics such as supply chain extensions, local manufacturing opportunities, and the economics of automotive and parts production. Mamudu views the conference as a crucial opportunity for stakeholders to align with regional agendas and capitalize on emerging investment prospects.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The WAAS 2023 inaugural conference identified the content of Nigeria\u2019s automotive components and parts sector within the structure of its emerging automotive development programme,&#8221; Mamudu stated. &#8220;The choice of Nigeria as a reference for West Africa region was informed by the fact that Nigeria\u2019s 15 million registered vehicles account for over 75% of the region\u2019s vehicle population.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s conference aims to spotlight investment opportunities in components and parts manufacturing within the region, fostering discussions on manufacturing collaboration and comparative advantages among member countries.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the conference, the WAAS Exhibition will feature over 250 exhibitors from around the world, including prominent pavilions from China and India, among others. Attendees can anticipate a diverse range of offerings, from vehicle repair and maintenance training sessions to insights on cutting-edge automotive technologies.<\/p>\n<p>Saglev will sponsor the conference, while Automedics Africa will conduct training sessions on vehicle repair and maintenance.
