Dr. Salihu Lukman, former National Vice Chairman North-west of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called upon the National Chairman of the party, Dr. Abdulahi Ganduje, to align himself with President Bola Tinubu’s vision for Nigerian democracy or resign from his position.<\/p>\n
In a letter dated April 2, 2024, addressed to Ganduje and leaked to the press in Kaduna on Thursday, Lukman expressed concern that Ganduje’s leadership contradicts Tinubu’s vision.<\/p>\n
Despite Ganduje’s emergence as National Chairman, Lukman noted a lack of efforts to restore constitutional order within the party. He highlighted the absence of National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings and the disregard for presenting quarterly financial reports, essential for maintaining transparency and accountability.<\/p>\n
Lukman criticized Ganduje’s leadership for failing to establish a clear funding framework, leaving the National Working Committee (NWC) dependent on elected representatives for financial support. He lamented the repetition of past APC leadership mistakes under Ganduje’s tenure.<\/p>\n
Moreover, Lukman pointed out a weakening of party organization in the North-West region, Ganduje’s stronghold, with leadership crises escalating in various states without adequate intervention.<\/p>\n
With Tinubu distancing himself from the APC following Sen. Abdulahi Adamu’s resignation, Lukman questioned Ganduje’s alignment with Tinubu’s vision for the party. He urged Ganduje to either adjust his leadership to align with Tinubu’s vision or resign from the position of National Chairman.<\/p>\n
