Oseni made this announcement during a press briefing held in Abuja on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Band A customers, who benefit from 20 hours of electricity supply daily, constitute 15% of Nigeria&#8217;s total 12 million electricity consumers.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Oseni revealed that the commission has reclassified some customers from Band A to Band B due to their failure to meet the required hours of electricity supply stipulated by the electricity distribution companies. Currently, there are 800 feeders categorized as Band A, a number that the commission aims to reduce to under 500.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this adjustment, approximately 17% now qualify as Band A feeders, serving only 15% of the total electricity customers connected to the feeders.<\/p>\n<p>Oseni clarified that the commission&#8217;s April supplementary order permits a 235-kilowatt-per-hour supply but assured that the tariff review would not affect customers in other bands.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has given the green light for a significant surge of 340% in electricity tariff for customers classified under Band A.
