This statement was made by Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Samson Ezugworie, during the Society of Petroleum Engineers Oloibiri Lecture Series and Energy Forum (SPE OLEF) 2024 organized by SPE Nigeria Council in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>Ezugworie highlighted the necessity for operators and the energy industry to refocus on sustainability and think long-term in addressing security concerns and ensuring stability. He stressed the importance of collaboration and shared responsibility in impacting communities positively.<\/p>\n<p>Seplat Energy&#8217;s commitment to executing various social investment programs yearly in communities where it operates was underscored by Ezugworie. These programs include health, education, infrastructure, skills\/knowledge interventions, and projects aimed at solving energy problems and increasing energy access for the people.<\/p>\n<p>Ezugworie emphasized the deliberate nature of these interventions, stating that they are part of Seplat Energy&#8217;s business strategy aligned with its sustainability journey. He noted that empowering and including communities reduces agitation and violence, fostering partnership and cooperation for mutual benefit.<\/p>\n<p>The commendable efforts of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and the government in securing oil and gas assets were acknowledged by Ezugworie, who also advocated for further actions to ensure a more stable industry. He particularly praised the government for signing three Executive Orders on the oil and gas sector, identifying them as a positive step forward.<\/p>\n<p>Ezugworie highlighted investment inflows in the energy sector as crucial for driving stability, citing Seplat Energy&#8217;s ANOH gas plant as a major game-changer. He emphasized the importance of successful completion of divestment programs by international oil companies (IOCs) in creating and retaining more value for the industry and the Nigerian economy.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the security of critical national assets like oil and gas pipelines, Ezugworie stressed the importance of utilizing technologies such as sensors, drones, and robots for pipeline inspections.
