Ganduje recalled Ekwueme’s tenure as Vice President during President Shehu Shagari’s administration, noting that Ekwueme’s potential ascension to the presidency was thwarted by a military coup that abruptly ended the government.<\/p>\n

Speaking at an empowerment rally organized by Senator Ifeanyi Ubah representing Anambra South, Ganduje emphasized that President Shagari had indicated signs of grooming Ekwueme as his successor. Despite favorable conditions, including Shagari’s support, Ganduje lamented that the military intervention dashed Ekwueme’s presidential prospects.<\/p>\n

Ganduje urged the Southeast region to re-establish connections with the central government to enhance the likelihood of realizing their aspiration to produce Nigeria’s president.
