Justice James Omotosho declined an oral application by Shaibu&#8217;s lawyer, Prof. Olawoyin Awoyale, seeking an order for parties in the suit to maintain the status quo. The judge cited the non-service of the originating summons on the Governor of Edo State and the Edo State House of Assembly as required by law.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, Justice Omotoso granted Shaibu&#8217;s prayer to serve the court papers on Governor Obaseki and the state House of Assembly through substituted means. He ordered that the court process be posted at the entrance gates of the Edo State Government House and the state House of Assembly Complex in Benin, and directed that all court papers be served on parties using a registered courier company.
