This endeavor, spearheaded by the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (P-CNGi), is a big step forward for Nigeria&#8217;s environmental stewardship and energy diversification.<\/p>\n<p>The launch of the pilot program for the Nigerian Army fleet auto program took place at the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technologies (NITT) in Abuja, heralding a new era of eco-friendly transportation practices in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Engr. Michael Oluwagbemi, the director of the P-CNGi program, commended NITT for its role as a pioneer in CNG conversion and reaffirmed the committee&#8217;s dedication to expanding the reach of CNG technology across Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>During his address, Engr. Oluwagbemi highlighted the exponential growth of conversion centers over the past six months, with the number soaring from a mere 7 to an impressive 121. He expressed the committee&#8217;s commitment to doubling this figure by May 29, 2024, underscoring their determination to promote widespread adoption of CNG vehicles nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With 49 partners and affiliate CNG conversion sites, P-CNGi is poised to implement an auto gas refueling strategy,&#8221; stated Engr. Oluwagbemi.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Through strategic investments in the sector, we aim to establish over 100 CNG refueling sites and invest upwards of 45 million dollars, driving economic growth and job creation in the process.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Engr. Oluwagbemi also outlined plans to bolster the job market by providing training for technicians, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu&#8217;s ambitious goal of converting millions of vehicles to CNG by 2027. He emphasized the multifaceted benefits of CNG utilization, asserting that it not only stimulates economic activity but also enhances national security and stability, paving the way for a more prosperous Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the press, the Honorable Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuabu Audu, revealed that a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed with the Nigerian Army to facilitate collaboration on CNG conversion initiatives. He announced plans to establish a conversion complex at Ajaokuta, equipped with state-of-the-art conversion kits to support the military&#8217;s transition to CNG-powered vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>In a symbolic gesture, Colonel Commander A. A. Adeyinka officially handed over trained drivers and conversion technicians to the Honorable Minister of Transport, Sen.
