The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) has taken decisive action by sealing 13 facilities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) due to violations of environmental laws.<\/p>\n
Among the sealed facilities are notable names including Veritas Plastics, Almat Farms, Dayak Nigeria Limited, FIK Contracting Limited, Peachville Estate, Net Construction Nigeria Limited, and Sazak Acre Bilogue. Additionally, Coppa D\u2018Alberto Ltd, Efab Properties Ltd, Homes, Salis Ventilated Homes Ltd, Phinada Mill, and Skippers\u2019 Electronics were also sealed.<\/p>\n
After the exercise, Prof. Aliyu Jauro, the director-general of NESREA, addressed journalists, highlighting the reasons behind the closures. He cited failure to address environmental concerns such as Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Environmental Audit (EA), Environmental Management Plans, Environmental Permit, among others, both in the Green and Brown Environment. Jauro specified that a total of 10 facilities in the green sector and three in the brown sector were sealed.<\/p>\n
Representing the director-general, Abdusalam Isa, the director of inspector and enforcement, emphasized that NESREA had followed due process in clamping down on these facilities. He noted that the agency had exhausted all relevant communications regarding their environmental status before resorting to closure.<\/p>\n
