{"id":23405,"date":"2024-03-15T14:17:29","date_gmt":"2024-03-15T14:17:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=23405"},"modified":"2024-03-15T14:17:29","modified_gmt":"2024-03-15T14:17:29","slug":"abuja-court-orders-remand-of-oil-magnate-pending-bail-confirmation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2024\/03\/15\/abuja-court-orders-remand-of-oil-magnate-pending-bail-confirmation\/","title":{"rendered":"Abuja Court Orders Remand of Oil Magnate Pending Bail Confirmation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Georgia','serif';\">Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court (FCT) in Abuja has ordered the remand of Mr. Akintoye Akindele, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD\/CEO) of Duport Midstream Company Limited, in Kuje Correctional Center, Abuja.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Georgia','serif';\">Akindele will remain in custody until March 20, pending the court&#8217;s consideration of documents confirming the perfection of the bail granted to him earlier.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Georgia','serif';\">The court had previously granted him bail in the sum of N750 million with two sureties in like sum on March 1, shortly after he was arraigned on allegations of fraud amounting to $5.6 million.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Georgia','serif';\">Justice Omotosho stipulated that the defendant must fulfill all bail conditions by March 8, and adjourned the trial to commence on March 15.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Georgia','serif';\">Among the conditions set for bail is that the two sureties must own landed property within the jurisdiction of the court.
