The Comptroller-General of Immigration, CGI, Kemi Nandap, has instructed all personnel assigned to the Nigeria-Niger Republic border to return to their duties without delay.<\/p>\n

This directive was issued in a statement released by the Acting Service Public Relations Officer, Mr. Kenneth Kure, on Thursday in Abuja.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The decision comes after the reopening of the borders between Nigeria and Niger Republic, which had been closed in compliance with ECOWAS directives.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
ECOWAS had enforced sanctions on Niger Republic, including the closure of both land and air borders, following a coup that led to the ousting of President Mahmed Bazoum.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
President Bola Tinubu announced the reopening of the borders on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
In response to this development, the Immigration chief has instructed all Comptrollers stationed at States and Border Commands along the Nigeria-Niger Republic border to promptly adhere to the directive and lift all restrictions on human movement.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
CGI Nandap assured that the Immigration Service would continue to facilitate safe and orderly border crossings while maintaining the integrity and security of Nigeria’s borders.<\/p>\n
