He urges President Bola Tinubu’s administration not to repeat the perceived mistakes of the past and emphasizes the importance of dialogue in securing the release of abducted citizens.<\/p>\n
Gumi’s offer comes in response to the Kaduna State government’s refusal to negotiate with the bandits responsible for the recent abduction of 287 school children from Kuriga Government Secondary and LEA Primary Schools in Chikun Local Government Area.<\/p>\n
Last week, bandits abducted over 280 students from Kuriga primary school, sparking widespread concern and calls for action.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Gumi expressed his disappointment with the government’s stance of refusing to negotiate with the bandits, labeling it as an unfortunate position. He advocates for dialogue not only in the case of the Kuriga school children abduction but in all similar cases involving banditry.<\/p>\n
Gumi suggests that the government adopt the same approach used in releasing passengers abducted on the Abuja \u2013 Kaduna train in 2022 to secure the release of the Kuriga school children and others. He asserts his willingness to lead comprehensive dialogue efforts between the government and bandits, citing it as a religious duty for him to pursue peace.<\/p>\n
Anticipating a positive response, Gumi expresses hope that the present government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will heed his advice and engage in dialogue with the bandits.
