The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has introduced supplementary evidence against MICAD Project City Services Limited and James Nolan, a Director of Process and Industrial Development Limited, before Justice Nora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja.<\/p>\n
The statement, delivered by the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, underscores the gravity of the criminal case arising from the controversial Gas Supply Processing Agreement between Process and Industrial Development and the Federal Government of Nigeria.<\/p>\n
The infamous case stemmed from P&ID’s acquisition of an $11bn award against the Federal Government over a failed contract. However, a significant turn of events occurred last October when a London arbitration court overturned the $11bn award, citing fraudulent procurement of the contract.<\/p>\n
MICAD Project City Services Limited and James Nolan are currently facing a 20-count charge related to “obtaining by false pretense, money laundering, and criminal conversion of proceeds of crime, amounting to N151,394,328.00.”<\/p>\n
In February, the International Criminal Police Organisation announced Nolan’s arrest in Italy after he absconded while on bail in Nigeria in 2022, amidst the ongoing $9.6bn P&ID scandal.<\/p>\n
During Monday’s court session, the prosecution counsel, Bala Sanga, informed the court of the EFCC’s submission of additional evidence on February 20, 2024. The defense counsel, Micheal Ajara, acknowledged receipt of the evidence.<\/p>\n
