Senator Ningi, speaking on behalf of the Northern Senators\u2019 Forum in an interview with BBC Hausa, had asserted that the National Assembly passed a budget of N25 trillion for the fiscal year 2024, rather than the N28.7 trillion currently being implemented by the Federal Government.<\/p>\n
However, Senator Adaramodu, a spokesperson for the Senate, addressed these claims, asserting that the budget is a public document that transparently outlines the anticipated revenue and expenditure of the country. He categorically denied any instances of budget padding as alleged by Senator Ningi.<\/p>\n
He stated, \u201cThe national budget is a public document, which expressly states the expected revenue and the expenditure of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Senate, under the leadership of Senator Godswill Akpabio, is not aware of any varied execution of the 2024 appropriation mandate, as approved.\u201d<\/p>\n
Moreover, Senator Adaramodu emphasized that the entire budget process, from presentation to approval and presidential assent, was conducted openly and transparently. He expressed confidence that any discrepancies or infractions would have been brought to the attention of the Senate for scrutiny.<\/p>\n
