Tinubu made this pledge during his investiture as the Grand Patron of the Nigeria Academy of Science (NAS) in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>Emphasizing the importance of research for national progress, Tinubu stated that no nation, particularly Nigeria, could afford to overlook the significance of scientific research in harnessing its abundant natural and human resources. He pledged to prioritize research initiatives by the academy as part of the government&#8217;s efforts to revitalize the nation&#8217;s economy and address the challenges facing Nigerians.<\/p>\n<p>Tinubu highlighted the administration&#8217;s commitment to fostering collaboration with the NAS and providing adequate funding for research, science, and development. He underscored the role of government ministries, including science and technology, health, and education, in mobilizing resources to support scientific endeavors aimed at driving socio-economic development.<\/p>\n<p>The NAS, established in 1977 and incorporated in 1986, serves as Nigeria&#8217;s leading independent scientific body. Prof. Ekanem Braide, President of the NAS, emphasized the academy&#8217;s readiness to contribute to the government&#8217;s development agenda. She stressed the importance of collaboration among research institutions, government, industries, and communities to ensure effective translation of research findings into policies and practices that address national challenges.<\/p>\n<p>Braide expressed confidence that NAS fellows and members, representing various scientific disciplines, would continue to contribute their expertise to advance national development initiatives.
