Nigerian youths from various regions have come together in a show of solidarity to demand justice for the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, whose untimely death has left many questions unanswered, and these peaceful rallies serve as a collective call for accountability.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday morning in the Panseke neighborhood of Abeokuta, Ogun State, a group of enraged youths gathered, dressed in black and holding banners with messages such as #JusticeforMohbad and #WhoOffLight, among others. Their presence in the skating rink arena was a moving demonstration of solidarity and a strong desire to see justice served.<\/p>\n
Youths reported to be fervent supporters of Mohbad flocked to the streets in Effurun Road, Delta State, waving posters that repeated their desire for justice. This outpouring of support extended beyond actual rallies, as hashtags calling for justice lit up social media platforms.<\/p>\n
These peaceful rallies follow a recent protest in Ikorodu, Lagos, where the late artist hailed from. Mohbad’s death last Tuesday and his subsequent burial in Ikorodu have raised concerns and triggered accusations, some of which have been directed at Azeez Fashola, widely known as Naira Marley and the owner of Marlian Records.<\/p>\n
Renowned artists, too, have utilized their social media platforms to join the chorus for justice, amplifying the demand for transparency in the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s passing.<\/p>\n
Acknowledging the public outcry, the Lagos State Police Command has pledged to investigate the matter and established a special investigation team. Additionally, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has directed the state Police Command, in collaboration with the Department of State Service (DSS), to launch a comprehensive investigation aimed at uncovering the truth and ensuring justice prevails.<\/p>\n
In an official statement, Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed his condolences to the bereaved family, friends, fans, and residents, emphasizing the need for a thorough and transparent examination of Mohbad’s unfortunate demise, which has left a lingering air of mystery.
