{"id":22138,"date":"2024-03-07T08:17:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-07T08:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=22138"},"modified":"2024-03-07T08:17:00","modified_gmt":"2024-03-07T08:17:00","slug":"african-games-2023-aruna-edem-win-silver-bronze-in-table-tennis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2024\/03\/07\/african-games-2023-aruna-edem-win-silver-bronze-in-table-tennis\/","title":{"rendered":"African Games 2023: Aruna, Edem Win Silver, Bronze In Table Tennis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Quadri Aruna and Offiong Edem won one silver and one bronze in table tennis at the 13th 2023 African Games in Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s singles final on Wednesday, Quadri Aruna was beaten by rival Omar Assar of Egypt 4-3.<\/p>\n<p>While Offiong Edem took bronze on Tuesday after losing 4-0 in her semi-final clash with Egypt\u2019s Dina Meshref.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking after winning the bronzing, Edem said: \u201cI am so happy that we were able to attend the last World Championships in Korea and this really helped my game a lot.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to thank the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) for their support and I believe attending such a competition really helped me personally here in Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Egyptians are ahead of us because they attend more competitions than us and we hope we can get such support to return to the top of the game in Africa.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 13th African Games will officially open on Friday 8th and end Saturday 23rd March 2024.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second time in history that the games will be decentralized, as three cities in the host country will host the event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Quadri Aruna and Offiong Edem won one silver and one bronze in table tennis at the 13th 2023 African Games in Ghana.
