After an exceptional 11-week run, Funke Akindele’s ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ bids farewell to Nigerian cinemas, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of success. The comedy film, which premiered on December 15, 2023, has set a new standard in Nollywood, becoming the first-ever project to gross over ₦1 billion in cinemas and achieving a total gross of ₦1.4 billion.

The film’s groundbreaking journey began in early January 2024 when it crossed the ₦1 billion mark, fueled by a record-breaking ₦113 million opening weekend. Following its release, ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ captured the hearts of audiences with its captivating storyline, following five brothers navigating a life of crime to save their mother’s life.

According to data from the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN), the film concluded its cinematic run with a modest ₦14,745 in its final weekend, screening in only two locations between February 23 and February 25. Despite the gradual decline in screenings, ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ amassed a total gross of ₦1,404,207,541, with an impressive 374,552 ticket admissions.

The film’s success extended beyond Nigerian borders, with screenings in countries such as Ghana, the United Kingdom, and various regions across Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Congo, Gabon, Guinea, Rwanda, Senegal, and Togo.
