Reports have emerged indicating that Boko Haram terrorists have abducted a significant number of female internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Ngala, the headquarters of Gambarou Ngala in Borno State.<\/p>\n
While a security source corroborated the abduction, they refuted claims that 319 IDPs were taken, stating, “What we heard is around 113.”<\/p>\n
According to accounts from the Babban Sansani IDPs camp, the incident occurred last Sunday when the women ventured into the bush to collect firewood for domestic and commercial purposes. They were ambushed by insurgents in the Bula Kunte bush in the western part of Ngala town. The terrorists released older women and led away approximately 319 young girls and some boys.<\/p>\n
Three of the abducted girls managed to escape and returned to Ngala, revealing that the insurgents took them to a bush near Bukar-mairam village in Chad Republic. They fled during the night when the militants slept, trekking for two days before reaching Ngala.<\/p>\n
A source within the security circle revealed that warnings had been issued to the IDPs against venturing into certain bush areas due to the risk of attacks. Economic pressures often drove them to gather firewood despite the dangers.<\/p>\n
