Speaking to journalists in his hometown, Uburu, Ohaozara local government area of Ebonyi State, the minister attributed the high cost of living to cumulative effects from past administrations, which he claimed President Tinubu’s government is addressing through various policies.<\/p>\n
Umahi emphasized that the southeast has been favorably treated by the Tinubu administration, citing appointments of individuals from the region to positions of authority, including the first Minister of Works of southeast extraction. He argued that with the ongoing development projects in the region, the southeast lacks moral justification to join protests against the President.<\/p>\n
The minister urged the people of the southeast not to be swayed by any group or region encouraging protests against the President. He criticized the recent NLC protest as unhealthy and unreasonable, calling on citizens to exhibit patriotism.<\/p>\n
Umahi acknowledged the longstanding issues contributing to the current challenges, such as insecurity, farmers\/herders clashes, and kidnapping, affecting food production. He highlighted his past role as the chairman of the NEC committee on resolving farmers\/herders clashes, which aimed to address these challenges across states, particularly in the Northern states.<\/p>\n
