Nigeria heavily relies on thermal power plants for over 70% of its electricity, exacerbating the situation caused by the disruption in gas supply.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has established a committee to address the funding challenge, emphasizing that the debts owed to gas-producing firms amount to $1.3 billion. However, during the 7th Nigeria International Energy Summit in Abuja, Director of the Decade of Gas Secretariat, Ed Ubong, revealed that the government has cleared $120 million of the gas debts.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ubong expressed optimism about ongoing efforts to mitigate the crisis, including the development of frameworks to address the legacy issues.
