This marks President Tinubu&#8217;s first appearance at the annual global gathering as Nigeria&#8217;s head of state.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The delegation will include six state governors and seven ministers. The governors accompanying President Tinubu are: Hope Uzodinma of Imo, Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, Mohammed Yahaya of Gombe State, Uba Sani of Kaduna State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazak of Kwara State, and Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, confirmed this delegation in a statement. The delegation aims to pursue new investment opportunities through roundtable meetings with top executives of multinational companies and engage in bilateral discussions with various heads of state and prime ministers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The seven ministers in the delegation are:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Foreign Affairs &#8211; Yusuf Maitama Tuggar<\/p>\n<p>Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Finance &#8211; Wale Edun<\/p>\n<p>Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare &#8211; Dr. Mohammed Pate<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Defence &#8211; Abubakar Badaru<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Solid Minerals Development &#8211; Dele Alake<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation &#8211; Dr. Betta Edu<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment &#8211; Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite<\/p>\n<p>Accompanying them will be key officials, including the President&#8217;s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, and other senior government representatives.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This development follows President Tinubu&#8217;s directive to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to freeze visa processing for government officials attending UNGA without proof of direct involvement in its official schedule. He also stressed the need to limit the number of aides and staff accompanying the delegation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The theme of UNGA78 is &#8220;Rebuilding Trust and Reigniting Global Solidarity: Accelerating Action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards Peace, Prosperity, Progress, and Sustainability for All.&#8221; President Tinubu will deliver Nigeria&#8217;s national statement on September 19, the first day of the high-level general debate.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Before that, he will participate in the high-level political forum on sustainable development (UN 2023 Summit on SDGs), addressing critical issues such as sustainable development, climate change, global cooperation, and addressing global humanitarian crises.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>During his visit, President Tinubu will have the honor of conducting the NASDAQ closing ceremony at the National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations Headquarters in New York City, becoming the first African president to do so.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Adeyemi Abdulkareem &nbsp; &nbsp; President Bola Tinubu will lead a 17-member Nigerian delegation to the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA78) scheduled from September 18 to 26.
