The group, displaying placards with messages like “Nigerians are starving to death” and “Tinubu, end hunger and suffering in Nigeria,” marched from the Ring Road down to Akpakpava Road and other busy city center streets.

Having previously given President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima a 14-day ultimatum to fix the Nigerian economy or step down, EDOCSO reiterated their demands during the protest. In a communique signed by interim chairman Leftist Austine Enabulele, the group expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of action following the ultimatum.

Addressing journalists at the protest venue, Enabulele emphasized the urgent need for President Tinubu to address the issues of hunger and suffering in the country. He called for prompt action or, if incapable, the president’s resignation to pave the way for fresh elections.

Enabulele also criticized the dollarization of the Nigerian economy, insisting that the government should prioritize the national currency, Naira, for transactions. He urged President Tinubu to give value to the Naira and resign if unable to address the country’s challenges.

Pastor Azemhe Azena, a clergyman and gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), joined the protest, emphasizing the escalating economic hardships and the need for urgent government intervention.
