Abisoye Coker-Odusote, the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), has emphasized the importance of compliance with the Nigerian Data Protection Act among the commission\u2019s Front End Enrolment Partners (FEPs).<\/p>\n

Speaking at a recent management retreat, Coker-Odusote urged the FEPs to ensure the inclusivity of all individuals in the National Identity Number (NIN) registration process while maintaining the integrity of the enrollment process.<\/p>\n

In a statement released by Kayode Adegoke, the head of corporate communications at NIMC, Coker-Odusote stated, \u201cOur mission at NIMC is clear: to equip each Nigerian and legal resident with a unique and secure NIN. However, in order to accomplish this, we must ensure the integrity of our enrollment process.\u201d<\/p>\n

Coker-Odusote emphasized the crucial role of FEPs as the link between citizens and the NIMC enrollment ecosystem, stressing the importance of handling citizens\u2019 information with care, accuracy, and thoroughness.<\/p>\n

She highlighted the need for continuous enrollment efforts, acknowledging the waiting list of millions of individuals including students, farmers, businesspeople, and the elderly who are essential contributors to the country.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Mrs. Carolyn Folami, the director of business development and commercial services at NIMC, provided updates on the ongoing revalidation of FEPs, stating that the process aimed to enhance the system\u2019s efficiency while addressing identified gaps.<\/p>\n

Folami also mentioned the commission’s efforts to settle outstanding arrears owed to FEPs, indicating progress in payments and a focus on utilizing Android smartphones for enrollment activities.<\/p>\n

The directives from NIMC’s leadership underscore the commitment to ensuring compliance with data protection laws and the effective execution of the NIN enrollment process, ultimately contributing to the development of a comprehensive National Identity Database.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
