{"id":20609,"date":"2024-02-22T15:01:27","date_gmt":"2024-02-22T15:01:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=20609"},"modified":"2024-02-22T15:01:27","modified_gmt":"2024-02-22T15:01:27","slug":"2-years-after-yoruba-nation-agitator-igboho-returns-to-nigeria-for-mothers-burial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2024\/02\/22\/2-years-after-yoruba-nation-agitator-igboho-returns-to-nigeria-for-mothers-burial\/","title":{"rendered":"2 Years After, Yoruba Nation Agitator Igboho Returns To Nigeria For Mother\u2019s Burial"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Igboho, has returned to Nigeria two years after his sojourn in the Benin Republic on exile.<\/p>\n<div class=\"google-auto-placed ap_container\">\n<p>He returned to Nigeria for the burial of his mother, who died while he was in detention and facing trial in Benin Republic.<\/p>\n<p>It would be recalled that Igboho left Nigeria in 2021 when he escaped to Benin Republic after he was declared wanted by the Department of State Services (DSS).<\/p>\n<p>DSS operatives had invaded Igboho\u2019s home in the Soka area of Ibadan, Oyo State capital, over over alleged terrorism allegations.<\/p>\n<p>While in Benin Republic, Igboho was arrested while trying to travel to Germany to join his family.<\/p>\n<p>He, however, regained his freedom recently after two years in a Benin Republic prison.<\/p>\n<p>A statement by Igboho\u2019s spokesman, Olayomi Koiki, confirmed that the Yoruba nation agitator was in the country for his mother\u2019s burial.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_ad jeg_ad_article jnews_content_inline_2_ads \">\n<div class=\"ads-wrapper align-center \">\n<div class=\"ads_code\">\n<div class=\"JC-WIDGET-DMROOT\" data-widget-id=\"c0bb45e72914d2a03a23da8aaa785667\" data-load=\"true\" data-id=\"1708612872301\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ads-text\">ADVERTISEMENT<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Koiki, who disclosed this in a terse statement accompanied by a video via his X handle on Thursday, said: \u201cI can confirm that Chief Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho, is currently on his way to Igboho Town for the final burial of his mother MRS S.A. ADEYEMO.<\/p>\n<div class=\"google-auto-placed ap_container\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"aswift_3_host\" title=\"Advertisement\" aria-label=\"Advertisement\"><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe body of MRS. S.A.
