Addressing the media during an ongoing parley on economic hardship, Governor Sanwo-Olu outlined several initiatives geared towards mitigating the impact of rising costs on the populace.<\/p>\n<p>One of the key announcements made by Governor Sanwo-Olu is the reduction of working days for public servants. Starting from next week, civil servants from lower levels will have their workdays reduced to three times a week, while those in levels 15-17 will work four times a week. This measure is intended to alleviate the financial strain on public sector employees amidst the challenging economic conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted plans to establish additional markets across Lagos State where residents can purchase food items at discounted rates. These Sunday Markets will be rolled out in at least 42 identified locations, offering essential food items at reduced prices. To ensure equitable access, purchases will be capped at a maximum value of N25,000 per individual.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to measures aimed at addressing food affordability, the governor announced a 25% reduction in transport fares for the State Public Transport system, including BRT, Train, and Ferry services. This reduction is set to commence this weekend and is part of the government&#8217;s efforts to provide relief to commuters grappling with increased transportation costs.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Sanwo-Olu also called upon the private sector to play a proactive role in supporting citizens during these challenging times.
