Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has emphasized the importance of safety and skill acquisition for corps members, urging them to avoid unnecessary risks and actively engage in training programs.<\/p>\n
Addressing corps members and camp officials at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Iseyin, Oyo State, the DG reiterated the commitment of the NYSC management to ensuring the welfare and security of all corps members across the country.<\/p>\n
Ahmed cautioned corps members against undertaking unnecessary journeys that could expose them to accidents, kidnappings, and other security risks. He advised them to prioritize their safety and desist from requesting unnecessary relocations to other states, which could disrupt their service year experience.<\/p>\n
In addition to emphasizing safety, the DG encouraged corps members to actively participate in the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training programs. He highlighted NYSC’s collaboration with banks and notable foundations to provide interest-free loans for corps members with marketable skills and innovative ideas, empowering them to become self-reliant entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n
“NYSC, with collaborative institutes, has organized technologically driven skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development training to make corps members self-reliant rather than job seekers. The training will ultimately transform them into employers of labor,” Ahmed emphasized.<\/p>\n
The NYSC Coordinator in Oyo State, Mr. Abel Odoba, commended the corps members for their impressive conduct and cooperation during the orientation exercise. He acknowledged their active participation in camp activities and expressed gratitude for the support received from camp officials and security agencies.<\/p>\n
However, Odoba solicited support from the DG and other well-meaning Nigerians towards the completion of a 5,000-capacity ultra-modern multipurpose hall for use by corps members during the orientation course in the camp. He emphasized the importance of providing adequate facilities to enhance the overall experience and welfare of corps members during their service year.<\/p>\n
As the orientation exercise progresses, the NYSC remains dedicated to fostering a safe and conducive environment for corps members to develop their skills, contribute to nation-building, and embark on the journey of self-discovery and empowerment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
