The upcoming African Energy Week (AEW) conference in November will feature Nigeria\u2019s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, advocating for foreign investment in the country\u2019s burgeoning gas sector.<\/p>\n

Scheduled to take place from November 4-8 in Cape Town, under the theme “Energy Growth through an Enabling Environment,” AEW will serve as a strategic platform for showcasing investment opportunities in Nigeria’s gas value chain. With Nigeria aiming to boost gas production to 5.5 billion cubic feet per day by 2030, the conference aims to attract project developers, technology providers, and financiers to capitalize on the country’s vast gas resources, estimated at 200 trillion cubic feet.<\/p>\n

AEW 2024 will facilitate engagement with stakeholders, providing insights into ongoing projects, planned developments, and strategies for enhancing regional energy security through Nigerian natural gas. Notable developments, such as TotalEnergies’ production at the Akpo West field and Shell’s expansion plans, underscore Nigeria’s commitment to leveraging its gas economy for transformative growth.<\/p>\n

The conference will also highlight Nigeria’s efforts to attract foreign investment through initiatives like upstream licensing rounds and incentives for oil and gas projects. Recent commitments from major players like Shell and Chevron demonstrate growing confidence in Nigeria’s gas sector. Additionally, policy reforms, including the Petroleum Industry Act, have improved the investment climate, paving the way for long-term partnerships.<\/p>\n

Nigeria’s downstream industry will also be showcased at AEW 2024, with focus on regional pipeline infrastructure and processing facilities. Projects like the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano pipeline and the Nigeria-Morocco pipeline highlight the country’s ambition to become a regional hub for petroleum products.<\/p>\n

NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber, emphasizes Nigeria’s potential to drive industrialization and eradicate energy poverty through gas development. AEW 2024 aligns with the goal of making energy poverty history by 2030, offering a platform to connect investors with transformative projects across Africa’s energy value chain.<\/p>\n
